Perez 10-Second Penalty Strips Cadillac of Historic First F1 Points at Monaco

A post-race stewards' decision costs Cadillac what would have been the new constructor's maiden championship point, while Isack Hadjar survives a separate investigation to keep his Monaco podium.

Sergio Perez has been handed a 10-second time penalty following the Monaco Grand Prix, dropping him from 10th — a points-scoring position — to last of the classified finishers and erasing Cadillac's first opportunity to score in Formula 1.

Perez penalty wipes Cadillac milestone

Perez had crossed the line in 10th on the road at Monaco, a result made possible by the incidents that disrupted the race around him, despite having already served a drive-through penalty during the event for lining up in Gabriel Bortoleto's vacant grid slot. The additional 10-second post-race sanction proved fatal to any points prospects, consigning Perez to the foot of the finishers' classification.

The result is a painful one for Cadillac, who now remain without a championship point after what would have been the team's first points finish in Formula 1 slipped away.

With the penalty applied, 10th place and the single point that comes with it passed to Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin, a welcome addition to the team's tally from the principality.

Hadjar cleared after red-flag investigation

Elsewhere in Monaco's post-race scrutineering room, Isack Hadjar was placed under investigation over allegations that Red Bull Racing had performed illegal work on his car during a red-flag period. The stewards ultimately found no grounds to act, and Hadjar's third-place finish remained intact.

Championship picture

What is clear is that Cadillac's points tally stays at zero, while Alonso and Aston Martin collect a point they would not otherwise have taken from the principality.
